Frequently Asked Questions About Technical Diving in Halkidiki

What is the minimum certification for a TecRec course?

To enrol in the PADI Tec 40 course — your entry point into technical diving — you must hold an Advanced Open Water Diver certification, a Rescue Diver certification, and have a minimum of 30 logged dives. An Enriched Air Diver (Nitrox) certification is also strongly recommended.

Is all equipment included in the TecRec course price?

Yes. All our PADI TecRec courses at Nemo Scuba Diving in Halkidiki include all required specialized technical diving equipment AND all necessary gas blends (including Nitrox up to 51% for decompression). There are no hidden costs.

What is the difference between Tec 40, Tec 45, and Tec 50?

These are the three stages of the PADI Tec Deep Diver pathway. Tec 40 introduces decompression diving to 40m. Tec 45 extends your depth limit to 45m with more complex deco planning. Tec 50 is the full certification for dives to 50m. Each stage builds progressively on the last.

What is Trimix and why do I need it for deep diving?

Trimix is a breathing gas containing Oxygen, Nitrogen, and Helium. At depths beyond 40 meters, nitrogen narcosis becomes a serious impairment. Helium reduces narcosis significantly, making Trimix essential for safe, clear-headed diving at 65m, 90m and beyond.

Can I do technical diving in Halkidiki as a beginner?

Not directly — technical diving requires solid recreational diving experience first. However, if you are new to diving, you can start with our PADI Open Water Diver course, progress through Advanced Open Water and Rescue Diver, and then join the TecRec pathway. Contact us and we will plan your full learning journey together.

How long does the Tec 40 course take?

The PADI Tec 40 course typically takes 4 to 5 days to complete, including theory sessions, equipment configuration practice, and a minimum of 4 dives with full decompression procedures in the waters of Sithonia, Halkidiki.
