Best Scuba Dive Sites in Halkidiki
Explore the mythical underwater world of Sithonia. From shallow historical ruins to breathtaking deep walls.
Our Favourite Dive Sites Around Sithonia
As a PADI 5-Star Resort based at Metamorfosi Beach in Sithonia, we have privileged access to some of the most spectacular dive sites in Northern Greece. From shallow reefs perfect for your first ocean dive, to dramatic 50-meter walls for experienced technical divers — here is our curated list of the best dive sites in Halkidiki.
Kalogria Reef
One of Northern Greece's most celebrated shore dives, located off a stunning Blue Flag beach. The dive starts in shallow, crystal-clear water (4m) and descends down to 28m, with sandy slopes leading deeper for tech divers. Expect to encounter octopuses, groupers, amberjacks, and vibrant sea anemones. Perfect for both Discover Scuba courses and technical training.
Bahia Beach
Situated near the beautiful Vourvourou area, this deep underwater reef is renowned for its thrilling double-wall topography dropping from 6 meters to a max 43m. It's a fantastic spot for marine biology enthusiasts, offering frequent sightings of lobsters, moray eels, and massive amberjacks navigating the steep underwater cliffs.
Porto Elea (Zografou) Reef
Entering from a picturesque jetty, this site offers a diverse underwater playground. It combines shallow, sunlit canyons with an impressive wall that drops from 18m down to 31m. The marine life is dense, and on rare, lucky occasions, divers have even been joined by wild dolphins here.
Poseidon's Arch & Ruins
This versatile location near Ammouliani offers two distinct experiences. The deeper route features colorful vertical walls and a stunning underwater archway that divers can swim through. The shallow route (4-8m) is a historical treasure hunt, where you can glide over scattered stones believed to be the remnants of an ancient coastal settlement.
Loutra Thermal Springs ('The Bubblemaker')
A truly unique dive site located just beneath the Agia Paraskevi Spa hill on the Kassandra peninsula. Thanks to an underwater thermal source, divers experience natural geysers erupting from the seafloor. Thousands of tiny gas bubbles constantly rise through the sand, while mineral deposits create a surreal, white landscape that makes you feel like you are diving in a glass of champagne.
Kelyfos Island (Turtle Island)
Our premium boat diving destination. This uninhabited island between Sithonia and Kassandra is a pristine marine sanctuary. Shallow sections (2-15m) are bursting with colorful sponges, octopuses, and seahorses, while a breathtaking vertical wall plunges down to 90m+ for advanced and tech divers. The cobalt blue waters here offer some of the best visibility in Greece.
Porto Valitsa Deep Wall
A spectacular wall dive that caters to both recreational and technical divers. The dramatic drop-off descends from 2m all the way down to 50m along a sandy slope. The site is famous for its outstanding visibility, intricate soft corals, and abundant macro life.
